CCR Cover Contest - February 11, 2018

It was a good one today: a new contestant - James from New York, who lost by a single point to James of Maine. Man, I had a scare this morning ... I always go to my office just before heading to the studio ... to post a blurb on FB and to pick up my CDs. So, I leave the office, shut the door, start walking down the hall.. Shit, do I have my keys? I reach in my pocket, and indeed, there they are. Close one.

1. Springsteen - "Blinded by the Light"
a) who had a hit with it? - Manfred Mann's Earth Band
b) mishearings of the lyrics, on purpose or by accident: "Wrapped like a douche rolling through the night" "mondegreen" - misheard lyric due to phonetic similarity (thanks, Jeff and Donna)

2. "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps"
a) Cake
b) "Quizás, quizás, quizás"
c) Nat King Cole had a huge hit with it in Latin American, in spite of his heavily accented Spanish (actually, I think his accent added charm for Latin American listeners)

3. Jewels and Binoculars do a cover
a) title? - "Spirit on the Water"
b) whose tune? - Bob Dylan's
(nobody got this one)

4. "Erika Stucky - "Killer Queen"
a) whose tune? - Queen's
b) misheard lyrics? - "A built-in remedy/ for Christian virginity," "Bought herself a mynah / Kept it in her vagina," "Kept in a case, just like Marie Antoinette."
