Catamount Community Radio - March 19 & 26, 2017

So today I broke out a new notebook, the old one having been filled to the last page. I always keep a radio notebook whose contents are CCR playlists and random quotations from X.Ray Burns, who is on the air with Glen Jones Sundays 12-3 in the afternoon on WFMU. The last notebook runs from August 14, 2016 to March 19, 2017.

Last week played a few by the late, great Chuck Berry. What a great songwriter! My favorites include "Promised Land," "Brown Eyed Handsome Man," and Memphis Tennessee, but there are so many more. Perhaps underrated as a guitarist too. Bob Seger, in one of his tunes ... "Rock 'n' Roll Never Forgets" I think, he refers to rockers as "all of Chuck's children." This is apt, Rock 'n' roll would certainly be something else without the influence of Chuck Berry.

This week I featured Nick Lowe, in honor of his 68th birthday. Anybody who listens to my show knows how fond I am of Nick Lowe, a song writing talent on par with Chuck Berry.
