Catamount Community Radio - September 4, 2016

I am pretty happy with today's show. I'll listen back to half of it and see if I'm right. When you're a kid, and you listen back to your voice on a tape recorder, you say to yourself, "Do I really sound like that?" But when you listen back to yourself every Sunday, you know exactly what you sound like ... you just don't know what you look like. Believe me, you've got some gestures that would embarrass you.

I used to spin the Rahsaan Roland Kirk tune "Lady's Blues" (a flute feature with string background) back in the day on my record player ...before the days of MP3s, before even CDs. I still like it, but I can't help but remember how much that tune used to send me.

I imagined a device you could hook somebody up to, it's got wires and a screen. The people you wire up fall asleep and you can see their dreams on the screen. I would never sign-up for that, but I would bet a lot of people would, especially if you were going to broadcast their dreams on TV or via the Facebook. Fats Waller sang about meeting the nicest people in your dreams. Obviously, he hasn't been visiting my dreams.

Sounds like Maceo ... because it is Maceo.

Did my old "Cowboys Don't Cry" schtick. Hank Williams pens a song, puts the paper in a bottle, seals it, and, as he is in California, tosses it into the Pacific. It floats across the ocean and some Japanese cat finds it, and reads it. If you believe that, I wrote "gullible" in tiny letters on the ceiling in the classroom over in the Old Student Union. if you can find it, I'll give a C-note.
