Catamount Community Radio - September 20, 2015

I think my radio shows are pretty good in general; it I thought otherwise I would give it up and sleep in Sunday mornings until the crack of noon. So, an average show is pretty good, as the bar is high. But my thought today is that the show was below average, which is not to say it was bad, but there were no really magic moments on the mic, I didn't say anything funny, and there was an awkward pause or two. But still it was a good show: good music, and a few worthwhile moments on the mic.

A did a twofer thing today: two from Chuck Berry, two from Rufus Thomas, two from Prince and two from Nick Lowe. I was driving yesterday when the radio landed on Garrison Keillor (he was uninjured), he had a guest on, a really good rocker, and immediately I recognized the tune he was doing was Nick's "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day." Strangely, it was a mixture of happiness and jealousy ... as if Nick Lowe were my thing and he was intruding, a ridiculous thought. He followed up the Lowe tune with a rocker, which was excellent. I need to find out who this cat is. The internet (oh, how I love and hate you) tells me it's J.D. McPherson.

Chuck Berry, a genius who still walks among us:

If I go buy a Cadillac convertible coupe
And all I got at home to eat is just onion soup
It's my own business, it's my own business
If I would rather ride around
In my own Cadillac convertible coupe

If I's a dignatary on Capitol Hill
And up and married me a waitress in a hot dog grill
It's my own business, it's my own business
Because I am not a juvenile
And I can go out at my own free will.

Rufus Thomas, a Memphis Stax cat, I was hipped to him on this blog I just stumbled upon: La dimensión de trastos.

10:00 - 12:00 Sunday mornings on Power 90.5. When will the internet stream be back? The program directer sort of laughed when I asked him the other day, and said, "not anytime soon." Crap.
