Catamount Community Radio - December 7, 2014

I walked in today, because my bike was already on campus. On Friday I went to the U Club's oyster roast; by the time that was over it was dark, so I walked home. I wasn't as prolific this year as I was last in the consumption of oysters, but I still probably ate 20 or 25. But I had to power walk this morning to make it on time.

We're easing into the season; wouldn't want to overdose on the ol' christmas cheer. We'll save the eggnog, the mistletoe, and the red sweater for another day. We did hear a handful of Nick Lowe numbers from last year's holiday album, and Chuck Berry did "Run, Run, Rudolph"

Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town
Santa, make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph 'cause I'm reelin' like a merry-go-round

Said Santa to a boy child, What have you been longing for?
All I want for Christmas is a Rock and Roll electric guitar
And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a shooting star

Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town, come on
Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph, reeling like a merry-go-round

Said Santa to a girl child, What would please you most to get?
A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, and wet
And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a Saber jet

Jim Dandy wins the cover contest for the third week in a row.

1. What tune is Joo Kraus & Tales in Tones Trio covering? - Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"

2. Name the tune, the sax player playing it, and the composer - "White Christmas" / Charlie Parker / Irving Berlin

3. What Hoagy Carmichael tune is Dave Brubeck playing? - "Stardust"

4. Whose tune is Larry Goldings playing? - Randy Newman's "I Think it's Gonna Rain Today." My hint was that it was by a cat who once had a hit poking fun at those of diminutive stature.
