Catamount Community Radio - June 8, 2014

Yesterday was my first piano recital in a year. I played an Ellington medley, It was OK, but not my best playing. I think now Summer has officially begun: Isabel is done with classes, I've had my recital. It's time to get out my saxophone, get to work on my summer projects, to get some exercise and read. I don't like summer for the weather; I like summer because I can decide what to do with my time.

Dandy absolutely aced the cover contest today, nailing every question. Mary Ellen did fine, but it's hard to beat a perfect score.

1. Who is The Bad Plus covering, and what is the name of the tune? - "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," by Tears for Fears. I could have gotten the title, but not the group.

2. Who is Brad Mehldau covering, and what is the name of the tune? - "Still Crazy After all these Years," by Paul Simon.

3. Who is covering Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee"? - Roger Miller

4. Who is Christian McBride covering, and what is the name of the tune? - The Police, "Walking on the Moon."

No show next Sunday, but I'll be back the Sunday after next. You know where to find me.

Chug-a-lug Chug-a-lug

I knew the Tears for Fears because of the videos on Mtv back in the late 8os. And maybe their use in movies like The Breakfast Club.
On Bobby McGee I was juggling Merl Haggerd and David Allen Coe but then I heard a familiar tone in his vocal that reminded me of Dang Me or Chug-a-lug.
Great show as always. Happy Fathers Day in advance!
