Catamount Community Radio - April 27, 2014

Today I was daydreaming during the show about how flawless my board operating was... and just then I forgot to cue up the next song I wanted to play. Free-form radio, by the seat of your pants.

Riding down the hill from the station to my office I noticed for only the second time these stairs.

I had promised some Marisa Monte for last weeks show, and then forgot to bring the CD in on which her tunes were burned, so I made up for it today, playing five of her numbers. What is it that these South American girls have beneath the Equator? Brazilian. Brazil is getting ready to host the 2014 World Cup. It seems like just yesterday they were kicking soccer balls around in South Africa. The problem is that the preparations are not complete. The new stadiums are not yet finished, and so on. It makes me wonder, why do countries want to do things like host the Olympic Games and the World Cup? It's prestige, it's ego. If I were a country, I'd have good social services, I'd have a good educational system and a solid infrastructure, but when it came time to submit for hosting the World Cup I'd say no thank you.
