Three Things and a Video

1. The other day I was riding my bicycle up a hill, when all of a sudden a soap bubble of about two inches in diameter floated up next to me. Where did that come from?

2. One of my Facebook friends posts something like, "I'm having my morning coffee on my back deck, watching deer eat plums from the trees in my back yard. Could life get any better?" And the only thing I could think of was, "yeah, you could have a little bourbon in your coffee, and instead of deer, it could be a greyhound running by, being ridden by a monkey in a bow tie."

3. I read in a New Yorker article that Americans fear more losing their memory than death itself. This has given rise to a new industry of memory improvement: computer programs and whatnot that will supposedly refresh your memory and make you as sharp-witted as a twenty year old. This stuff is for suckers; don't believe the hype. Your memories probably aren't so hot anyway, so don't feel so bad about losing them. In fact, I can think of some memories that I would just as soon erase if I could. Maybe oblivion is a blessing ... if not for the people who will be looking after you, at least for you. It's total recall that is the curse. It will make you miserable. Anyway, I feel like my memory is pretty good, although I could be deluding myself. Now, what was I talking about?
