Catamount Community Radio - September 23, 2012

Apparently, the sewer system in the building got clogged; there is a truck outside, pumping out the poop ... and making the building smell like sewage. But if you keep the door shut and the window open, you're OK.

X Ray is back on the air after a couple weeks off .... Nice to have the two douchebags on the air together after several weeks apart. Glen Jones Radio Programme on WFMU, Jersey City, New Jersey, well worth your while if you like that sort of thing.

So, I hear that fall has officially begun, and therefore, that summer has officially ended. Well, not surprisingly, since we already have five weeks of class in the bag. To send summer off to neverland, or wherever it goes, I played Eleni Mandell doing "Magic Summertime," with its great lines

Spring can be tragical
but summertime is magical

We got into the time machine, but didn't set the dial for sometime in the thirties, as we are wont to do, but rather for the mid seventies, to hear Minnie Riperton hit those high notes on "Lovin' You."

We listened to Rahsaan Roland Kirk do "Serenade to a Cuckoo." Who could resist a tune with a title like that?

I put a note on Facebook that I was making Mexican food and listening to Los Tucanes de Tijuana. My Mexican friends immediately commented that the Tucanes were the best of the best. I had to play them today.
