Catamount Community Radio - July 22, 2012

The last couple of weeks there have been a few skips on the CDs: I don't know if the problem is my CDs or the radio station's CD players. I don't anger easily, but this kinda gets under my skin.

I liked today's show: good jazz, good vocal numbers, good mix between up-tempo and chill. We started with three great instrumentals before basking in the beautiful baritone voice of Arthur Prysock. I followed up with Nick Lowe, who, I'm pleased to announce, is coming to Asheville this fall. Then Frank Sinatra, singing about how it's great to travel, but better to be home afterwards.... Bring the slippers, make a pizza.

I love the Cootie Williams plunger trumpet on Duke Ellington's "Jubilesta." That shit sends me.

We heard Maceo get down to business on James Brown's "Mother Popcorn, Pt. 2".

Introducing Django Reinhardt's "I'll See You in my Dreams," I trotted out one of my lines: "Come on up to my apartment. I'll play you some Django Reinhardt records and show you my etchings."

I still haven't posted the playlist from last week's show. I'll do that soon. I've been busy entertaining my guests from Spain.

I'll be off the air next Sunday, but should be back for the August 5th show. Catamount Community Radio, most Sunday mornings, 10-12 (ET), on WWCU-FM.

I followed up with Dr. Sauter today; he has seen ultrasounds of this mass in the past; he has assumed that it is a fibrous uterus, and this has been told to me all along at every annual check-up. However, with the current diagnosis, it would be nice to confirm this. A needle biopsy is one way to do that.
We'll have you in our thoughts.
