Catamount Community Radio - January 15, 2012

The show was tight today, not slightly sloppy like last week. I like that.

Last night the issue and I went to see Bob Seger in Greensville, SC. I will write about it later, but it was one A.M. before I got home. I didn't hit the hay until two in the morning, so I didn't get a lot of shut eye. I did get to eat some sushi last night. Oh boy. I had my fill of nigiri: squid, mackeral, tuna, octopus, salmon, tuna, surf clams (whatever they are), shrimp, and scallops. The issue doesn't find the raw stuff appetizing, so she had noodles.

It did play a few Bob Seger tunes, including "Katmandu." Mero nom Bob Seger ho. ("My name is Bob Seger" in Nepalese.) I quipped that I'd never seen so many 60 year olds assembled in one place in all my days .... and that was just on the stage! (canned laughter).

A German Facebook friend told me he would tune in today, and my Spanish friends did tune in (I know because they called, so I possibly had listeners in two European countries. How cool is that? Very cool, I assume.

Sufjan Stevens, with "The Upper Peninsula"

I live in America
With a pair of Payless shoes
The upper penisula
And the television news.
I've seen my wife
At the K-Mart
In strange ideas, we live apart.
I live in a trailer home
with a snowmobile, my car.
The window is broken out
And the interstate is far .
I drove all night to find my child.
In strange ideas, he's been revived.

Tom T. Hall, the master of the story-song, sand "Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine." I enjoyed listening to The Robins sing "That's What the Good Book Says."

I played three by Jason Moran and two by Earl Hines.
