Greetings from Mt. Pleasant, MI

It was a scorcher today, with triple digit temps in northern Ohio and southern Michigan, but what does that mean to me? We were in the car driving with the air conditioning going full almost full blast. Made it as far as Wappakonetta, Ohio yesterday, and did the rest of the drive today. No major incidents. I was passed by a semi yesterday in Kentucky with one of its back tires exploded. It was spewing rubber everywhere; I've never seen that before. Had to even take evasive action to avoid running over some big chunks. Does the driver know when one of the wheels on his trailer pops, I wonder.

I hope to get back into the blogging mode soon. We shall see. I still have things to say about the trip to New York, and I promised further updates on the earlier trip to Spain, and here I am, on my third trip of the summer, accumulating more stories.

Tomorrow, on up to Mancelona. I'm looking forward to the second annual Lyzzy Bordyn / Destination Unknown jam on Sunday.

I've been slowly working my way through Charles Dickens's Bleak House. Quite a novel, about a zillion pages long. I never realized Dickens liked word play so much. It's not always easy going; sometimes I have to hit rewind and reread a sentence. But at other times I am amazed at both his sentences and his plotting genius.
