Catamount Community Radio Radio - November 7, 2010

I like to get a good night's sleep before doing Sunday morning's radio show, so last night I was in bed by 11:30. And I did get a good night's sleep, which included a very interesting dream:

It was the 1967 World Series, and the St. Louis Cardinals were playing the Yankees. Late in the night, St. Louis pitcher Bob Gibson was working out in the stadium when two Yankee players ran across him. They decided to double team on him and beat him up to give the Yankees the edge in the next day's game. They had hold of him and were ready to start pummeling him when suddenly the sun rose and at that moment Bob Gibson recited a Haiku. The Yankees were so dumbfounded that they let him go. The next day, Bob Gibson threw at their heads anyway, without hitting them.

The Cardinals actually did win the the title in 1967, and Gibson was the World Series MVP. But they played the Red Sox, not the Yankees, as in my dream. But I didn't know that. I did know that the Cards lost to the Tigers the following year, 1968, in spite of Gibson pitching brilliantly.

Anyway, today was double-trouble day, or doublicious, or something. I played two songs by each artist, among them Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Prince, and Sonny Rollins, and Bob Marley. As usual, I had a lot of fun. My preparation for the show was a little rushed, because I wanted to go to the football game to see one of my students play his last home college football game. In spite of my sloppy preparation, I had no trouble doing the show.
