George Carlin

George Carlin did radio before going into comedy (and in comedy, was square before he was hip, and quite good at impressions too). I recall him saying something about the pride he took in running the board: you know, clean transitions, etc. As a radio man, I confess that on almost every one of my shows there is some sort of screw up: I forget which song I have cued up, or I announce one song and play another, or there is some awkward silence as I frantically cue something up...

Anyway, here's George Carlin on the Mike Douglas show from 1972.

Some Day
John & Yoko were on the Mike Douglas Show for an entire week. It exists on video but it is not yet available. It remains as one of the Holy Grails I have yet to obtain.
Thanx for sharing this bit.

Re: Some Day
Is John smoking there at the end? Times have changed.

Re: Some Day
He probably is. I have the John & Yoko on the Dick Cavet Show DVD's, and they are chain smoking through the whole show, and even talk about it.
I also remember when Hunter Thompson was on Letterman, he spent the entire show TRYING to light a cigarette.
Yes, the times have changed.
