Catamount Community Radio - March 15, 2015

Here's how I described listeners of the show on the Facebook yesterday: "magicians, freaks, losers, hippies, funkateers, comedians, miscreants, goody-two-shoes, posers, douches, girly men, manly girls, rednecks, drag queens, rabbis, mystics, yogis, characters, dopes, beatniks, knuckleheads, the cognoscenti and the clueless." Now, if I only have four listeners, then each one wears multiple hats.

Spring Break has come and gone ... like the 8-track tape and the hustle. I made myself a list of things to get done, and some of them did get done, but not all of them. Just the half that were unimportant got done. But I'm pleased to be able to say that je ne regrette rien.

Both Sly Stone and Quincy Jones have birthdays today, but I didn't know that yesterday, when I was getting my playlists going, so maybe next week we'll get some of that on ya'.

Aphex Twin and Kasey Musgraves on the same show? Has that happened before in the annals of radio history? I'm thinking, no.

You turn on the light
Then you turn it back off
'Cause sleeping alone, yeah it ain't what you thought
It's the drip of the sink
It's the click of the clock
And you're wondering if I'm sleeping

[...]

When you're drunk
And it's late
And you're missing me like hell
Keep it to yourself

Not your usual big-city hatin' blue jeans wearin' pick-up truck drivin' front porch sittin' friday night football lovin' tobacco chewin' cliché ridden s*&t that is the staple of country music radio.

And that Aphex Twin makes me want to dance like a robot.

For the second time in three weeks, Nico/Gaby and Dandy tie for the win in the cover contest.

1. We heard a bluegrass version of "Jump." A two-part question:
a) whose tune is it? - Van Halen's
b) Who is singing - Why, it's David Lee Roth his bad self.

2. Another two-parter: We listened to a nice version of "Ain't Misbehavin'"
a) Who wrote the tune? - Fats Waller
b) Who is singing it? - Sarah Vaughan

3. We heard Eric Reed ramble through a tune. The question is, whose tune? - Thelonious Monk's

4. Justin Kauflin played a tune.
a) What's the title? - A Day in the Life
b) Whose tune - The Beatles'

Camel Toad

Well wrap me in spandex and call me Dave. I thought that sounded too much like DLR to actually be him so I figured it was a trick question. Well played, old man. You know, I've been to the edge.(And I stood and looked down.) Great show, sir!

Re: Camel Toad

Thank you very much, Dave!
